Thieves Caught on Camera Targeting Cars in Miami Lakes Gated Community – NBC Los Angeles

Police are investigating after residents of a Miami Lakes community fell victim to car thieves who attacked multiple vehicles.

People living in the gated community of Satori said they never expected so many cars to be attacked at once.

Surveillance cameras showed the thieves going car after car, outside several homes in the community.

Resident Tony Lopez said he woke up to find the doors of his GMC Denali wide open and his valuables gone.

“I woke up around 6am and my car door was open. I went out and everything was disarmed. They took two of my cell phones. They took my firearm from me,” López said.

Lopez said the items they got away with were expensive.

“Between the cell phones and the gun, between $3,500 and $4,000,” López said.

Lopez said he left his car unlocked by mistake and knows of at least six other neighbors who were affected.

As of now, Miami-Dade police have confirmed that two victims had their belongings stolen.

Cameras recorded the thieves driving and walking through the neighborhood, breaking into cars and searching their personal belongings.

Lopez says it happened Sunday morning in the Satori community along Northwest Court 87.

Residents said the thieves entered through the community’s side gate, but that is under investigation.

“I think there is more to what they are saying. Personally, I think there is more. You don’t have guys running around here for 30 or 40 minutes getting into cars and no one sees anything,” Lopez said.

Lopez said he was able to recover his cell phone by tracking it down, but the suspects are still out there.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
