Port Lincoln Police have noted a recent increase in opportunistic break-ins from unlocked cars and are asking the community to help prevent and deter crime by locking up their cars and removing valuables.
Six cars have been broken into in the last month and had wallets, cash, cards, identification, clothing, sunglasses and other property stolen.
Each of the vehicles had been left unlocked, making it easy for opportunistic thieves.
The vehicles were parked at Aidas Court, Liverpool Street, Kiama Avenue, Oak Street and two on Laguna Drive.
Local residents are encouraged to report any crime to the police immediately to help the police provide an effective operational response.
To further reduce your chances of being robbed, keep the following safety tips in mind:
If you see anything suspicious, call the police helpline on 131 444. If you have any information about these or other crimes, please report them to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
