Elderly driver stormed off after garbage truck hit his car: ‘Absolutely disgusted!’

Rosemary Clark, 71, was left furious after her Nissan Qashqai was damaged by a garbage truck outside her home in Tewkesbury, Worcestershire. Ms. Clark said the collision occurred when the driver of the Ubico truck was trying to maneuver down her narrow street.

The rear of her car was badly damaged, leaving her without a car for up to four weeks.

The pensioner also had trouble retrieving her mobility scooter from the trunk due to extensive damage.

Mrs. Clark was first alerted to the accident by a neighbor.

Then he went out and saw a garbage man writing a note to explain what happened.

“It was a good job. I had my stick like I say because it would be on the ground.”

Ubico is employed by Tewkesbury Town Council to carry out waste collection.

Tewkesbury Council Community Services Chief Peter Tonge said: “We are aware of the incident that took place on Roman Way on Monday and are currently investigating urgently.

“Following the parked car incident, the crew was unable to continue their rounds until the pickup vehicle was inspected for damage, per their security protocols.

“A recovery pickup took place on Wednesday, July 13. Our contractors at Ubico place the utmost importance on the health and safety of both the public and their crews.

“We have strict measures in place to prevent such incidents and we work hard to ensure these procedures are followed at all times.”
