Drag Race: BMW M240i vs Audi S3 vs MK1 Audi RS3

Can a first generation Audi RS3 keep up with the latest and greatest performance cars? Today we will discover how the BMW M240i and the latest Audi S3 are carried

For this race, Mat is behind the wheel of the first generation Audi RS3. Under the hood is a 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged engine making 340PS and 450Nm of torque. Being an Audi RS car, it has Quattro all-wheel drive and power is sent through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Weight-wise, the RS3 tips the scales at 1,575kg.

In the BMW M240i, you’ll find a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder with 374 hp and 500 Nm of torque. It’s mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with launch control and, like the RS3, has all-wheel drive. You might think the extra power gives the BMW an unfair advantage, however it is the heaviest car of the three at 1,790kg.

Finally we come to the latest generation of the Audi S3. It features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 310 hp and 400 Nm of torque. This is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and the S3 is the lightest car here at 1,558kg.

But will this be enough to make up for the energy deficit? You’ll want to watch the video to find out.
