Diesel: ‘Only a matter of time’ before polluting cars are ‘banned’ before 2030 ban

Nearly half of drivers (47 per cent) are holding on to their cars longer than usual because they are unsure whether to buy a petrol, electric or diesel car, rising to 58 per cent of those under 34.

According to new research from Opinium, 60 per cent of UK drivers say 2030 is too soon to stop selling petrol and diesel vehicles.

It also found that 49 percent of drivers are holding on to their current car due to a shortage of new cars and the high price of second-hand cars.

There are some fears that most UK drivers will not switch to an electric car until their concerns have been addressed.
