BCP advice amends Facebook advice on Sandbanks Ferry

SANDBANKS Chain Ferry responded to the BCP Council after a social media post advised people to “avoid the ferry if you can”.

In a Facebook post ahead of this weekend’s heat wave, the BCP Council gave their top tips for “staying as cool as a cucumber” in this weekend’s heat.

One of his tips read: “Possible disruption at Sandbanks due to road works – avoid ferry if you can.”

A Sandbanks Chain Ferry spokesman said: “We are absolutely shocked and a bit upset that they are saying that.

“Especially since the road works have come to an end.”

Bournemouth Echo:

The line has since been removed.

Other top tips provided by the council include “Try to stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm” and “DO NOT leave children, vulnerable adults or dogs in hot cars.”

The council also issued a warning about the use of barbecues, saying: “Please be responsible and DO NOT BUILD FIRES or barbecues near our heathland or cliffs.

“Barbecues are strictly prohibited on our beaches until 6pm and must be disposed of safely.

“Alternatively, use our electric barbecues located along the seafront.”

We have contacted the BCP Council for comment.
