Bengaluru: Police officers arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly hacking into cars’ computer systems to steal them.

The arrested defendant has been identified as Arun Kumar (32), from Mulabagilu, Kolar.

Arun Kumar is said to have been previously convicted of robbery and was serving time in jail. In jail, he met a defendant named Rakesh who told him about the technology.

The defendant then learned how to steal cars from YouTube videos and used a specific kit to hack into the vehicle’s systems.

He ordered an ‘X Tool’ device which is available online. The defendant used the device to hack into the car’s computer system to gain access.

He would then change the number plates on the vehicles and sell them in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
